Calendar Date:Saturday, May 20, 2017 - 7:00pm
Vancouver USA Singers (VUSAS) presents "All You Need is Love" on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21.
In addition to the title song, written by the Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney, audiences will be treated to other popular songs chosen to celebrate all aspects of love. Broadway musical arrangements include "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof, and choral highlights from Into the Woods. They will be joined by other well-known pieces, including
"Dedicated to the One I Love," originally recorded by the Shirelles and made even more popular by the Mamas and Papas; "Somebody to Love" by Queen; Eric Whitacre’s "Five Hebrew Love Songs" and many others.
The concert will also feature community members from around Clark County. Darcy Schmitt, well-known local jazz vocalist and director of the Battle Ground high school choir, will solo for Simon and Garfunkel’s beautiful "Bridge Over Troubled Water." The new Seton High School choir, directed by Janet Reiter, will join the larger choir for this finale song on Sunday, and will perform a short set of their own. In addition, the winner of the Vancouver USA Singers annual scholarship, Brooke Moltrum, will be highlighted.
Tickets are available on their website at www.vancouverusasingers.org and at the door.
