The City of Vancouver is now accepting grant applications for projects or events that will increase overnight and day-visit tourism within the city. The guidelines and application for the City’s lodging tax grants are available on the City’s website at

Grant applications must be received by 3 p.m. on Aug. 31. Applications will be reviewed by the City’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, who will then make funding recommendations to the Vancouver City Council. Grant funds will be disbursed in January 2017.

The lodging tax grants are available to non-profit organizations or government agencies with projects, events or activities that increase visits to the city or help increase tourism-related revenues.

An optional grant overview and orientation meeting for those interested in applying will occur at 3 p.m. Aug. 10 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 415 W. 6th St.

The grants are funded through a 4 percent lodging tax on hotel, motel and bed and breakfast stays. This is the first year since the Great Recession of 2008-09 that this grant funding has been available within the city.
