Adopt-A-Park volunteers at Hearthwood Park in Vancouver, Washington

Why Volunteer with Parks & Recreation?

Volunteering offers a variety of wide-ranging benefits. By volunteering at our parks, trails, sports fields, and recreation centers, you can:

  • Build up Vancouver's community
  • Ensure the continuing vitality and health of our natural areas
  • Spend time out in nature
  • Gain important skills and experience
  • Meet new people, build lasting relationships and have fun!

What Types of Opportunities are Offered?

There are numerous ways to get involved. Get outdoors and gain new awareness of local ecosystems and wildlife habitats by volunteering at one of our parks, trails or open spaces. We offer several opportunities to volunteer in our parks through the Adopt-A-Park program, work parties and the Annual Trail Count.

Volunteers can also assist Vancouver Parks & Recreation in several diverse programs for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers are an important asset to the operation of our community centers, sports programs, and camps. Are you a teen? You might enjoy participating in the City's #VancouverVolunTEEN program (for ages 14-19) which meets the second, third and fourth Thursday after school gets out.
