LeRoy Haagen Memorial Park Playground to close Oct. 2 for surfacing upgrade
September 29, 2023
The playground at LeRoy Haagen Memorial Park, 13412 N.E. LeRoy Haagen Memorial Drive, will temporarily close Monday, Oct. 2 and could remain closed through Friday, Oct. 20, to accommodate the installation of new poured-in-place rubber surfacing. The park will remain open during the playground closure.
The existing rubber tiles under the playground equipment are starting to separate, causing a tripping hazard. The new surfacing to be installed at the playground is poured-in-place rubber, a safe, durable material that meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for playground accessibility.
Community members are invited to explore other nearby playgrounds during the LeRoy Haagen Memorial Park playground closure:
- First Place Park (1499 N.E. 152nd Ave.)
- Fircrest Park (12100 N.E. 5th St.)
- Hearthwood Park (801 N.E. Hearthwood Blvd.)
- Countryside Park (15304 N.E. 7th St.)
Environmental factors impact the installation of poured-in-place rubber surfacing, so the exact duration of the closure is weather-dependent. Stateline LLC of La Center, Washington is completing the work.
