Vancouver Police weekend emphasis results in 5 DUI arrests
January 4, 2024
Over the New Year’s weekend (Dec 29, 30 and 31), the Vancouver Police Department conducted DUI patrols which resulted in 47 traffic stops, five (5) DUI arrests, six (6) arrests for crimes other than DUI, and 44 citations issued for non-DUI related infractions.
Additionally, officers assigned to this emphasis also investigated six (6) collisions, including one where an officer’s patrol car was struck while he was conducting a DUI investigation. The officer’s vehicle was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries.
Of note, officers who participated in the emphasis observed what appeared to be fewer drivers on the road on New Year’s Eve and while officers conducting the DUI emphasis did make 2 non-DUI related arrests and investigated 2 collisions that evening, they had zero DUI arrests on Dec 31.
The Vancouver Police Department greatly appreciates everyone who chose to ring in the new year safely and did not get behind the wheel while impaired.
