City seeks volunteer to serve on Civil Service Commission

The City of Vancouver is seeking a volunteer to fill one seat on its Civil Service Commission. The appointment would begin Oct. 28 and expire Oct. 31, 2030. Applications must be received by Sept. 27.
The Civil Service Commission is responsible for adopting rules for the regulation of classified service, appointing a secretary/chief examiner, providing competitive testing to prepare civil service eligible candidate lists for the Vancouver Police and Fire departments, hearing and determining appeals, and investigating and reporting on matters relating to the enforcement of civil service matters. To serve on the Civil Service Commission, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the City of Vancouver and a registered voter of Clark County. The ideal candidate will be interested in public service, city government, and police, fire and civilian hiring practices. Applicants must also be available for an interview with Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle on a date to be determined.
Commissioners serve six-year terms with no limit on the number of terms served. This seat would be a full-term appointment with a six-year term.
The commission meets at 8 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month and may meet other times for urgent matters.
