The City of Vancouver is seeking applicants to fill six positions on its Transportation and Mobility Commission (TMC). The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.

The volunteer TMC is an 11-member commission that advises Vancouver City Council, the Cty manager and City staff on various transportation and mobility-related projects, programs and policies. It also provides ongoing feedback and guidance on implementing transportation policy through the City’s Transportation System Plan.

There are four full-term appointments and two mid-term appointments. Three full-term appointments are three-year terms beginning Dec. 31, 2024 and ending Dec. 31, 2027. The one-year youth term begins Dec. 31, 2024 and ends Dec. 31, 2025. One mid-term appointment begins on January 6, 2025 and ends on Dec. 31, 2026 and one mid-term appointment begins Jan. 6, 2025 and ends on Dec. 31, 2025. Position eligibility is limited to Vancouver residents or those living within the Vancouver Urban Growth Area just outside City limits. Three positions are currently held by individuals whose terms are expiring but they may reapply to retain their position. Per Vancouver City Council policy, all incumbents who wish to reapply for their positions will be re-interviewed along with any other qualifying applicants.

Applicants must be available for an online interview with Vancouver City Councilmembers. The City is seeking people to serve who represent the following groups:

  • Youth ages 16-19 (full-term, one year)
  • Person with a disability (full-term)
  • Person with expertise or experience in freight movement (full-term)
  • Person who walks as their primary mode of transportation (full-term)
  • Person who uses transit as their primary mode of transportation (mid-term)
  • Person who is an active member in a neighborhood association (mid-term)

The TMC meets at 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. Meetings are currently being held in-person and include a hybrid option, but Commissioners should plan for regular in-person attendance.
