Experience beautiful luminarias, traditional Mexican dancing, live music, guest artists, catrinas and activities for all ages at Día de Muertos. Community members are invited to honor the memories of loved ones who have passed away by visiting the mock cemetery or by placing one of our beautiful candle-lit luminarias in the park.

Schedule of Activities

  • 2-3 p.m. Welcome, Proclamation, Land Acknowledgement, Día de Muertos Explanation
  • 3-4 p.m. Ofrendas, Burial of Sadness Procession, State of Chiapas dance performance
  • 4-5 p.m. Día de Muertos Elements, State of Veracruz and Norte dance performances with guest artists, Huehca Omecoyan
  • 5-6 p.m. States of Michoacan, Campeche, Veracruz Fiesta, Salsa and Waltz dance performances
  • 6-7 p.m. Veracruz Somber, Catrín and Catrina Contest, LuminariaPlacing
  • 7-8 p.m. Live music from Mariachi Mexico En La Piel, followed by DJ music when everybody is invited to dance on the stage!

Free and open to all ages, Día de Muertos is presented by Vancouver Ballet Folklórico and made possible in part by assistance from the City of Vancouver Culture, Arts and Heritage Grant Program. The event is outdoors and will continue as scheduled, rain or shine. Seating in the park is very limited, attendees may bring their own chairs to use on the lawn.
