Water Design and Construction Requirements
The City of Vancouver’s Water Utility System Planning and Design team provides engineering, standards and reviews to support a water supply distribution system that is safe, reliable, durable and maintainable. Privately funded water mains are reviewed for compliance with city standards and requirements prior to connection. Such water mains must also be able to be extended to new users in a logical and cost-effective manner.
Requirements are intended to be used as guidance during design stages of new developments intended for connection to the Vancouver’s water system. These requirements do no replace professional engineering design or specific project reviews. City staff, including Vancouver Fire Department officials, may also impose requirements based upon site-specific reviews.
