Southwest Washington Independent Investigative Response Team Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Release #2
February 23, 2024
On February 20, 2024, deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 12500 block of NE 152nd Avenue in response to a 9-1-1 call from a female who was requesting a welfare check on her mother. Upon arrival, deputies learned from a female at the location that she was being held against her will and had been sexually assaulted by the male at the residence, who she said was in possession of a firearm. As deputies attempted to detain the male, there was a use of force resulting in an officer-involved shooting. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation.
During service of a search warrant at the property, crime scene investigators with the Washington State Patrol located firearms in close proximity to the male.
The Southwest Washington Independent Investigative Response Team (SWIIRT), led by the Vancouver Police Department, is continuing the investigation. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
Additional information will be released as it is available and will be sent out in a media release.
