Vancouver Police investigate homicide

On February 1, 2024, around midnight, the suspect in this case, Abel R. Rodriguez, 35 years of age, was located by the Sunnyside Washington Police Department and taken into custody.
Assistance in this apprehension was provided by the Sunnyside Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Rodrigez has been booked into the Clark County Jail for Murder II, Assault I and Drive By Shooting.
The investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is continuing.

This morning at approximately 3:20 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to the intersection of E 18th St/Bryant St. for the report of gunshots heard and a person on the sidewalk that had been shot. When officers arrived, they located a 22-year-old male unresponsive. Despite lifesaving efforts from officers, the victim was pronounced deceased.
The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes team is investigating. The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office. Nothing further is releasable at this time.
