Vancouver Police Investigate Shooting
April 7, 2025
Vancouver Police responded around 9:15 p.m. on April 4 to the report of a shooting at the Vancouver Plaza parking lot, where a carnival was being held. Officers learned that a large group of youth had been involved in a fight and one of the people fired a gun that struck another male in the stomach. As officers were approaching the area, information came out that the victim was being driven to the hospital by someone who was at the scene and a vehicle description was provided. The vehicle with the victim inside, passed a responding officer who turned around and made contact at the hospital with the victim and the witness. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
As information was developed, containment of the area was done, a UAS was deployed and a K9 track was conducted. The suspect was identified but was not located within the containment area. Detectives from the Crime Reduction Unit were able to determine that the suspect (16 years old) was at his home, where he was taken into custody by police. He was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center for Assault I w/Firearm and Injury and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm II.
This incident took over an hour and a half and involved a significant number of Vancouver Police Patrol officers from both West and East Precinct, VPD K9, VPD UAS, the VPD Crime Reduction Unit and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
